To Dupe or Not to Dupe?

Hello Beautyowls!

When The #CakedConfessionz approached me for a collaboration, there was no question about it… I was thrilled and happy about this idea. Blogging after all, is about creating new synergies, meeting exciting new people and building a community.

We quickly got in touch and put our heads together in order to write two separate themed articles that we would then host on each other’s blogs. So without further ado, allow me to introduce you to this week’s guest writer Victoria and her article ‘To Dupe or Not to Dupe’.

Don’t forget to go and check out her amazing blog and also discover what my post was all about.

Enjoy the reading and till next time,

 xoxo from Zürich,

K

Hello Beauties!

If you’re completely into the makeup beauty world like myself, then you would have been hearing the word “Dupe” around the web, social networks, and blogs a lot. What does “Dupe” mean? Well, it’s just the abbreviation for the word duplicate! Yes, that’s right. When shopping for makeup, we ladies want nothing but the best for our face and skin. Sometimes these things can be way too expensive! Well, I have treat for you today! Here is a list of some of my favorite makeup dupes to help those who want the best but just can’t find it in them to kick up the bucks. Hopefully, these will help, both your pockets and your vanity!

The Blender Dupe:

In order to create flawless airbrushed finished look, when applying your concealer or foundation, the best tool that I think a girl could use is the beauty blender. If you don’t know what a beauty blender is, I t’s basically a sponge for your face. It’s usually made of a really lightweight material and are very easy to wash with warm water and mild soap after using it. So with that being said, the ones I’m showing you here are both great. Except the price. One is the Original Beauty Blender. It retails for $20.00 on Sephora’s website. You can get the same exact results with Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and pay only $6.00. Which would you prefer?

Primer-Licious:

Okay, so any makeup routine whether it’s a day or night one need a good base primer. One main benefit of using primer is that it seals your pores for a flawless finish, another is that makeup primer softens the skin. It leaves the skin feeling velvety smooth. But why spend hundreds for velvety smooth skin when you can get the same results with something way more affordable? For example, you can go for the higher quality primer from Smashbox Cosmetics, which would cost you about $36.00, or you can get similar if not the same results when you buy the E.l.f. Cosmetics Mineral Infused Face Primer for $6.00, which is amazingly $30.00 cheaper!!!! I don’t think I have to say anymore with this dupe, it’s clear!

Blushy Dupe:

Blush always seems to complete a makeup look to me. I don’t know what it is about the perfect rosy cheek! Blush can be either very pigmented or not pigmented enough. There is no in between when it comes to blush. My personal favorite blushed is a beautiful berry shade my Milani Cosmetics. As you can see from the picture that I provided of the two different blushes, one price seems fair and the other unrealistic. Me personally, I would never spend that much on that size blush, no matter the brand. Too expensive, lol. The first blush pictured is Milani’s Luminoso Baked Blush, and it costs $8.50 as opposed to the next blush which comes from Nars Cosmetics In the Shade Orgasm and costs $30.00. Verdict?

Red Lippie Dupe:

We have just approached the fall season, and this lippie dupe I feel is perfect for it! Fall colors are the most beautiful because they are more on the neutral and earthy toned side. They are filled with chocolate browns, and golds, and mustard greens and yellows, but most of all plum colored things! My favorite thing to do in the fall is a dark lip. We of course, don’t have to spend a million bucks to get a sexy dark lip. Here we have Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick By NYX Cosmetics in the shade “Cherrie Skies”, which is a deep wine red and costs $7.00 as opposed to JeffreeStar’s Velour Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Redrum”. Both of these beautiful wine colors will give you the perfect fall lip. Now, please don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love JeffreeStar’s Cometic line, but if by any chance I can’t afford his lippies at the moment, NYX’s lippies is definitely my dupe!

Conceal-a-dupe:

No woman I know enjoys sporting dark circles or blemishes all over their face, so why shouldn’t we conceal them properly? No one said you have to spend an arm and a leg to get a perfect full coverage conceal. You could spend $30.00 on the Bobby Brown Face Touch Up Stick which will for sure provide you with the full flawless face conceal that you want, or you can get almost identical result for $18.37 less and pick up the Revlon Photo Ready Insta-Fix Stick for a whopping $11.63!!! I mean come on ladies, the proof is definitely in the pudding here. The best part about both of these dupe’s is that the packaging of both allow them to easily be used on the go, and fit comfortably in any makeup carrying bag or case.

Thank you guys so much for reading some of my favorite makeup dupe’s!! I encourage you to like, share, and comment on this blog post. Please share some of your most favorite makeup dupe’s with me. As makeup lover’s we must stick together! J Why not start here? How would you feel knowing you saved someone in the world some money?
