YOUNIQUE – Liquid Lipstick And 3D Mascara -REVIEW

Hello Beautyowls!

I love to discover and test out new products and when those products turn out to be really good, it’s even better.

A few weeks ago I received an interesting message from Candice mentioning to me the YOUNIQUE brand. I never heard of this brand before so she arranged some products for me to test and review.

Two days later she had sent me the top selling SPLASH liquid lipstick in the shade Sizzling and the 3D Mascara. As a true makeup lover, I started playing with these products immediately and of course got interested in finding out more about this brand.

YOUNIQUE is an American company founded in 2012 by Derek Maxfield and Melanie Huscroft, who are brother-and-sister. This is a direct sales company so if you are interested in finding your nearest distributor or more details about the products just click here. If you are based in Europe you could also contact Candice through her webpage : www.rockingbeauties.com. She was super helpful and quick, which made this a great experience.

Now about the products; first let me start off with the packaging. The beauty products I received come in a sleek matt black packaging with the logo in white. I love the cutout lettering and the transparent detail at the bottom of the liquid lipstick where one can see the color of the product. The mascara also comes in two separate matt black tubes with a similar design and translucent detail where you can see which tube contains the gel and which the fibers.

Although both products are great, I have to admit that I am in LOVE with the Splash liquid lipstick, so I will start with that one. I don’t know what kind of magic is in this formula but once the product is dry, it stays put…and I mean ALL DAY! I recorded my 8-hour wear experience as you can see from the pictures below. Note that I didn’t touch-up once and I was wearing this lipstick through coffee, lunch, and desserts. It did, however, prep my lips with the mac lip primer. The tube contains 0.12 oz / 3.55 ml of product, comes in 10 shades and retails for 27$. What truly amazed me about this formula though, was that it didn’t dry out my lips as much as other liquid lipsticks. After the 7 hour mark, I started noticing some dryness but not to the point where it got uncomfortable (bottom right picture).

The 3D mascara is a duo product. In one tube you get the gel and in the other, the fibers. This is a familiar concept, however, one for more special occasions and not a quick morning application. The mascara want is very nice, you get some nice separation and the product does hold a curl through the day but you need to apply several coats and work one eye at the time. I also experienced was some fall out from the second tube where the fibers were contained. However, they all disappeared with a quick brush swipe. Here you are getting 0.23 oz / 7 ml of gel and 0.02 / 0.5 ml of fibers for 29$.

All in all, I really enjoyed these products, I will keep using them and I would definitely recommend them, especially the SPLASH liquid lipstick.

That’s it from my side beautyowls, I do hope that you enjoyed this review and that you found it helpful. Thank’s again to Candice for introducing me to this brand and for sending these products my way. Also, note that this is not a paid endorsement.

Let me know if you have also tried the YOUNIQUE brand and what your experience was, or if there are any other favorite products I should try out?

 Till next time.

xoxo from Zürich,

K
