Estée Lauder Take It Away (From Me) Makeup Remover Lotion REVIEW

Hello Beautyowls!

It’s always frustrating when a product doesn’t work well and performs poorly. Luckily enough this doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, one has to share this information as well.

Today’s post is dedicated to one of these products that for me fall into the rather disappointing category from products I’ve tried in 2016.

Overall, I am a big Estée Lauder fan and I do love a lot of their skincare and makeup products, so when I bought the Estée Lauder Makeup Removal Lotion I had it as a sure thing that this gentle lotion would be a no brainer and do the trick.

Boy oh boy, was I wrong about that! So let me break it down to you and explain why this didn’t work out for me.

This creamy makeup remover comes in a blue bottle with a pump that contains 6.7oz for $30 via Estée Lauder. Luckily, I got mine as a deluxe sample that contained 1oz / 30ml for $6.99. Estée Lauder claims that this is a suitable formula for all skin types which “quickly and gently removes all makeup, even long-wear, and waterproof formulas” and that “rinses away easily and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth with no greasy after feel or oily residue” and here is where we have a problem!

First of all, I used this product several times both on a wet and dry face by gently massaging with both, my hands and with a wet cloth. Neither times did it manage to fully remove my makeup (always tons of residue left) and it wasn’t as gentle as described. Since I had to really rub my face to get the makeup off, it did cause irritation. Forget about the long-wear and waterproof formulas altogether!

Second point! Yes, it might rinse off easily and it most definitely left my skin feeling soft and smooth but rather greasy and with a waxy residue which I didn’t enjoy at all. The scent was also quite overwhelming but didn’t linger on too long.

I’m sorry Estée Lauder but this was not a product that worked for me at all and which I most definitely couldn’t and wouldn’t recommend.

There you have it beautyowls, you have been officially warned! Let me know which one was the most disappointing product/s you’ve tried in 2016 and why, so the rest of us can also stay away?

Till next time.

xoxo from Zürich,

K
