I wanted to continue the series from my previous blog about the ‘5 Great Skincare Products From 2016’ and dedicate today’s post to the ‘Top 5 Luxury Makeup Products from 2016’. These are all products that truly stood out to me in 2016 and where I felt that my money was well spend. I would definitely recommend those to friends and family. So let’s get started…
Foundation can be very tricky and is very personal. What might work for me might not work for you. But there is one thing we all have in common and that is the hunt for the perfect foundation. In order to find it, we have to keep on trying and trying.. kind ‘a like kissing a lot of frogs. So when I tried the La Mer foundation it was a match made in heaven. Excellent color match and cover, this buildable yet lightweight foundation is super comfortable to wear and extremely long lasting. An added bonus are the skincare ingredients which justify the hefty price tag of 115.- CHF Oh…well!, at least you get 20SPF with it. Available at Jelmoli the 100ml.
The condition for a good and long lasting makeup day is of course preparation. Besides your skincare routine, the second most important step is your primer. Like with the foundation… this is also a matter of personal preference and skin type. For those of us with a combo complexion, the Veil Mineral Oil Free Primer from Hourglass is a clear winner. Vegan, lightweight and with broad spectrum SpF15 this gem also pairs well with other foundations. Via Hourglass for $54 for 30ml.
Ideal for contouring especially for light skin is the ‘Les Beiges’ Powder from Chanel in Nr. 40. Not patchy, buildable and smells like roses with an included SPF Factor of 15. Need I say more?? Available via Chanel for 50 Euros.
Bronzing and highlighting are a serious business, especially if you are super pale like me. Too much and you look like you stepped out from a mud fight, too light and you look flat like paper. Too orange and you look like an Umpa Lumpa, too gray and you look like Casper. Therefore my top pick for a balanced and very forgiving bronzer, the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Palette in Light to Medium. Buildable, Long-lasting and with an equally stunning complementary highlighter via Charlotte Tilbury for £49.
Diverse, compact and top quality… the Marc Jacobs About Last Night Style Eye-Con No. 20 Eyeshadow Palette is a dream. Though Limited Edition it is still available at Sephora for the steep price of $99 but most definitely worth the money.
Long Lasting? Check!
