Besame Lipsticks Review & Swatches

Hello Beautyowls!

Coco Chanel once said “-If you are sad, add more lipstick and attack-” and if the lipstick is a fiery red then even better.

To assist you creating the ideal striking conditions in this crazy world Ladies and Gentlemen, I want to dedicate today’s post to the beautiful and mind blowing lipsticks from Besame Cosmetics.

The Company launched in 2004, on a  concept based on the very original idea of recreating vintage beauty products (especially lipsticks) inspired by the golden age glamour and particularly the old cinema. The founder Gabriela Hernandez “wanted Bésame to bring romance back into the makeup industry, allowing women to feel excited and passionate about their own beauty rituals again.” -Besame Webpage-

Genuinely intrigued by this idea,  I placed an order to test two of their lipsticks. I got Victory Red (18£ on cult beauty, now down to 14£) which is a strong cool vibrant red and Red Velvet (22$) which is a mid-toned neutral-red and an accurate replica from 1946.

Each lipstick is housed in a beautiful golden bullet (that contains 3.5gr of product) with a reddish-brown flower pattern. The formula is creamy and super pigmented, the finish is semi-matte, and the lips feel hydrated and juicy throughout the day, which is due to the enriched formula with macadamia oil, vitamin C, calming chamomile and soothing aloe vera. The bullet is angled on both sides which makes it easier to outline the lips.

To achieve the best results I would suggest to moisturize your lips first (this will allow the product to glide better on your lips) although one layer works fine, I found that two coats work best. Finally, a lip liner is a must, if you want to have a clean, sharp outline.

The formula is not kiss-proof, but the staying power is amazing, and the product wears off throughout the day beautifully…truly I haven’t seen anything like it!

The only downfall is that Besame doesn’t have international shipment yet, so if you want to snatch one of these beautiful lipsticks, you will need to find an intermediary beauty platform such as Cult Beauty.

As always Beautyowls, I hope that you’ve found this post helpful. Let me know what your thoughts are on the Besame lipsticks. Have you tried them yet? What is your ultimate red lipstick and from which brand? Let me know in the comments section below!

Till next time,

xoxo from Zurich,
